Classification by type of operation
:On-off valve
These valves whose main function is to open and close the fluid passage. This group of valves is also called (ON-OFF VALVE) or in some cases (block valve). Among the most common of these valves are:
Gate valve
Ball valve (ball valve)
Plug valve
Pressure relief valve

One-way valve:
These valves allow fluid to flow in only one direction, which is why these valves are called check valves or one-way valves.

Control Valve
This group of valves whose function is to regulate flow, temperature or pressure at any point between the fully open and fully closed channel states is called throttling.
Classification by type of application
Valves for normal services
The design of this group of valves is such that they can be used in many applications without any changes.
These valves are used in most places where the pressure rating is low (in the range of class 150 to class 600) and the temperature rating is between (-40°C to 400°C).
Valves for special services
These valves are designed in such a way that they can only be used in special services. These valves are among the valves that have special engineering designs and are also called custom engineering valves.
Severe Service Valves
These valves are a subset of special service valves that have special features for use in applications where volatile materials are present and high pressure drops may cause severe cavitation.
Classification of valves based on valve movement
Linear movement valves
These valves have a sliding stem that applies pressure to the end member, thereby opening or closing the valve. Valves that fall into this group include:
Gate valve
Globe valve
Pinch valve
Diaphragm valve

Rotary Valve
In these valves, the end member operates in a rotary manner and cuts and connects the flow with a movement of ¼ of a circle or 45 degrees. Among the valves, the following valves can be mentioned:

Classification of valves based on the size of the flow passage through the valve
Full bore
In this type of valve design, there is no reduction in size in the flow path
Radius
In this type of valve, there is a reduction in size in the flow path.
